The Noongar language is a vital expression of culture, identity, and connection to Country. Spoken across the South West of Western Australia for tens of thousands of years, it carries the knowledge, values, and worldviews of Noongar people. Each word reflects deep ties to land, waters, skies, kinship systems, and cultural practices.

Like many First Nations languages across Australia, Noongar language has been impacted by colonisation, with fewer fluent speakers today. However, community-led revitalisation efforts are strong, and the language is being reclaimed, celebrated, and taught to the next generations.

Our organisation recognises that preserving Noongar language is not simply about saving words — it is about protecting an irreplaceable cultural heritage and ensuring it continues to be spoken, heard, and lived.

• Record and Archive – Support the collection and safe-keeping of oral histories, traditional stories, and language recordings for future generations.

• Community – Facilitate language learning opportunities, from beginner classes to conversational groups.

• Youth Engagement – Collaborate with schools and youth programs to integrate Noongar language into everyday learning, games, and creative activities.

• Cultural Events – Embed Noongar language into public events, signage, and ceremonies to normalise its use in community spaces.

• Digital Resources – Developing online tools, mobile apps, and audio resources that make learning Noongar language accessible from anywhere.

• Elder-Led Knowledge Sharing – Ensuring all teaching and recording is guided by Noongar Elders and cultural knowledge holders.

• Partnership Projects – Working closely with language centres, universities, and cultural institutions to strengthen resources and reach.
